for every domestic goddess there is a kitchen full of style and charm. from the colored depression glass to the vibrant enamel cookware to impossibly thoughtful vintage canisters, the kitchen is an extension of the cook. and it must be loved and decorated like every other room in our humble abodes.
one simple yet equally effective way to add personality and pop to any kitchen is through the wonderful world of tea towels. many moons ago, in 18th century england, a tea towel was a special linen drying cloth used by the mistress of the house to dry her precious and expensive china tea things. today, we use them to dry off our not-so-fancy dishes, glasses and flatware. and these tea towels come in a impressive array of colors, patterns and clever prints that instantly add flavor to the everyday kitchen.
lately, i have been on the hunt for the perfect new set of tea towels. so when i stumbled upon katherine j lee’s impossibly charming shop, i couldn’t help but fancy the sweet, one-of-a-kind prints and illustrations. she’s also a fellow san franciscan, so that made me like her even more. and i was over the moon when she gladly offered my favorite piece – the playful pennant print tea towel – for this week’s giveaway! isn’t it wonderful?
