Parents to be have so many baby swings to choose from – how do we know which one will work best for our baby? The answer is, we don’t, because every baby is different. One child may nap like a champ in one swing but another child can’t stand it. We really won’t know until our babe arrives, but in the meantime, we can do some homework to see what infant swings doctors and hospitals prefer, as well as close friends and fellow moms. The 4moms Mamaroo Infant Swing is one of them, I’ve used this swing for both of my children, and this is my experience with their latest model, the 4moms Mamaroo Infant Swing.
4MOMS MAMAROO INFANT SWING: THE REVIEW
The Best Swing for Small Spaces: We live in a cozy (read: small) beachside home in San Francisco. This means we don’t have the luxury of having spacious living rooms, a nursery just for Olive (T and O are sharing a room – more on that in upcoming posts), or a playroom to house all the toys and baby things. Everything we register for and purchase must fit in the small space we have. This has made baby and kid shopping a challenging and an enlightening experience for us, as we shop with a small spaces lens. We first purchased with 4moms Mamaroo Infant Swing a few months before Theo was born because it was the smallest infant swing back then and was widely praised by all my mom friends. This swing can be easily moved from room to room and takes up minimal space – we usually nestle it against a wall and it never gets in the way. Now, with Olive, we have the new Mamaroo Infant Swing and it’s still the best small spaces baby swing out there.
The Easiest Infant Swing to Assemble: Raise your hand if you love to assemble baby gear. NOT ME. 🤣 We’ve struggled with our fair share of overly complicated, too many pieces, not enough instructions baby items and there’s nothing I appreciate more than a brand who makes their products quick and easy to assemble. It literally took me 5 minutes to set up the 4moms Mamaroo Infant Swing – open the box, pull everything out, slide or snap a few pieces together and poof! – the Mamaroo infant swing is ready to rock.
Smooth, Soothing Experience: I wish I could test the swing myself, but I’m clearly way to big. But I can say by observing that the movements of the 4moms Mamaroo 4 Infant Swing are impressively smooth and steady, regardless of the movement or speed setting. There are a few movement options to choose from: car ride, kangaroo, tree swing, rock-a-bye, and wave. The speed settings go from 1 to 5. And the adjustable seat (it can sit upright or recline – all we have to do is slide it to our preferred position) makes our babies feel enveloped, similar to their in utero days. This is why hospitals and doctors prefer the Mamaroo Infant Swing – it effectively mimics our babies’ in utero experiences which keeps them calm.
Washable Seat Covers: Let’s keep it real – our babies will have many diaper disasters anywhere and everywhere, including their baby swing. Olive has had a few already, and all we have to do is unzip the Mamaroo Infant Swing seat cover and toss it in the wash. There are so many swings and jumpers that don’t have this removable option, which means we have to hunch over, scrub, and pray the stains come out. 4moms knows what a miserable experience this is and saved us from it. Bless.
Eye Candy For Infants: Infants have limited vision, they can see only a short distance (8-15 inches), and graphic black and white images are best since they see in black and white as newborns. And as they grow, babies become fixated on their reflection, sounds, patterns, sounds, and colors. The Mamaroo 4 Infant Swing has a fixed mobile above the seat with 4 plush oval toys with varying patterns, mirrors, bells, crinkly sounds, and colors, allowing us to switch up what our babies see when they look up.
Overall, I’ve loved both my experiences with the 4moms Mamaroo Infant Swing and highly recommend it for new parents and their infants. Our kids have napped in this swing, play calmly for up to an hour, and are able to interact with the family while we eat meals at the table (we place the swing next to the dining table and have our baby sit upright). I hope you give it a try, and feel free to ask any additional questions in the comments below!
