These words have supported me during waves of fear that happen during the day. As positive and hope filled as I always aim to be, I also have worries that give me that sinking feeling in my gut, that spiral what if scenarios to a scary place. But I’ve been working on acknowledging the fear and shifting my lens quickly to one of bravery, trust, and service. Gabby Bernstein has inspired me to shift my focus to service to shake me out of fear. Reach out to a friend in solo quarantine, donate meals to frontline workers, support local businesses, love my family extra hard. And you know what? Service and love *always* help me conquer fear, and these mantras, these specific words and other powerful affirmations always give me that much needed bravery boost to start something new, create boundaries, jump off proverbial cliffs.
Affirmations – positive, reinforcing statements that help us challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts – are an essential ingredient in my wellness routine. Neuroscience and other research studies have identified that dedicated practice of affirmations effectively increased neural pathway activity, decreased stress, and improved physical and academic achievement.
We’ve all felt the tidal waves of self doubt, fear, anxiety 🌊 – the voice in our head that says “that’s not gonna happen….you’re not as good as the other person…this is all too good to be true….what if it doesn’t work out…it’s too late, you don’t have enough time…” That fear, that doubt, sabotages any possibility of happiness, success and peace. Because if we don’t believe it can happen, we have zero drive to move in that direction since we feel like we’re destined to fail, right? So we play safe, we stay small. And nothing changes.
Today will be different. Today we’ll go big. Today we’ll make the leap. Together.
