DRINK: GOLDEN MILK LATTE RECIPE WITH TURMERIC

Did you know that Turmeric has major benefits for your body and brain? It helps ease joint pains, fights off inflammation, improves your memory and immune system, and is a very strong antioxidant. Aside from its health benefits, Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its vibrant yellow color. It has been used in India for thousands of years, and is a staple in their traditional foods. One of my favorite places to use Turmeric is in a Golden Milk Latte recipe with turmeric. It’s a creamy, hot milk drink that’s filled to the brim with nutrients. It’s easy to make at home and tastes like a dream!

GOLDEN MILK LATTE RECIPE WITH TURMERIC

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups light coconut milk (canned is best, but carton works too)

1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk

1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric

1/4 tsp ground ginger

1 cinnamon stick (or 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon)

1 tbsp coconut oil

Pinch of ground black pepper

Sweetener of choice (i.e. maple syrup, coconut sugar, or stevia to taste)

DIRECTIONS

To a small saucepan, add coconut milk, almond milk, ground turmeric, ground ginger, cinnamon stick, coconut oil, black pepper, and sweetener of choice.

Whisk to combine and warm over medium heat. Heat until hot, but not boiling (about 4 minutes). Make sure you whisk frequently.

Turn off heat and taste to adjust flavor.

Serve immediately, best when fresh! Leftovers can be stored (covered) in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat on the stovetop until hot.
