here comes the sun

“in summer, the song sings itself.”

hi friends!
with my favorite long weekend just around the bend, rob and i are excited to spend four lazy days in our city by the bay. we’ll be avoiding the airport madness and crowded highways so we can soak in the sunshine as we rediscover our neighborhood and all its gems.
so for all of you fellow staycationers out there, here are a few words that we’ll be living by this long and lazy weekend. it’ll be our guide to our first summer weekend and i thought you’d enjoy it too. 🙂
sylvie’s guide to a superfun memorial day
no. 1
hang out at your neighborhood crab shack
whole crabs, buttery crab rolls, fresh crab louie salads – nothing signals summer like a meal at your nearby crab shack. rob & i have a few favorites – woodhouse fish co and thanh long to name a few…but the newest kid on the block that we can’t get enough of is craw station, an inner sunset gem that does crawfish, shrimp and crab boils, newspaper, aluminum bucket, bibs and all.
no. 2
make popsicles…just because.
having a popsicle….at the park or on your front stoop….soaking in the sun.
that’s my idea of a perfect summer day.
so, this weekend, i’m going to try this refreshing watermelon mint popsicle recipe from eating out loud for our favorite lazy sunday afternoon. yum, yum, yum.
no. 3
be outside. all the time.
the end.
fabulous vacation or mellow staycation, even the most everyday things – when done al fresco – are so much lovelier.
have your morning cup of coffee or tea on your front stoop.
serve breakfast on your patio {or eat outside at your neighborhood cafe}.
read the paper or your summer novel on the park grass.
walk or cycle to the market instead of getting in the car.
we’ll be doing all of the above….as well as heading to our favorite little beach a few blocks away for our afternoon doggie walks with napoleon.
now it’s your turn, friends – what adventures do you have up your sleeve this holiday weekend? what popsicles will you be making? what will you be doing in the sun? i’m excited to hear all about it. 🙂

friends, your sweet thoughts and inspiring comments are the bright spot of my day. please make the jump, hang out and share what’s on your mind. 🙂

  4. John and I are having an SF staycation, too-first up, margaritas (my favorite Friday treat) and tacos full of guacamole! I can’t wait to enjoy coffee at our favorite shop, a little time by the Pacific and plenty of popsicles-those watermelon mint numbers sound delicious!
