“what was hard to bear is sweet to remember”
on this particular morning, i am feeling a bit blue. it’s just one of those days. you know. when you feel like you’re running but don’t know where you’re going…when you have a hundred plates in the air and all you want to do is crawl under the covers…and the thought of a whole day full of smiling, cheery presentations and emails with exclamation marks sounds like an impossible task. add in the endless gloomy san francisco weather and voilà! you have yourself one blue monday.
but i thank my lucky stars my parents shared with me their secret to battling a no-good-very-bad-day. growing up, whenever a bad day would rear its ugly head, my mom would head over to our record player (yes, a record player. they are still the best!) and put on her favorite beatles, elvis or rolling stones album. and soon enough, in our little living room, the upbeat tunes broke through our gloom and we couldn’t help but laugh, sing and dance our hearts out.
my music maven friends – what are the songs that get you through those not-so-good days?
and for all of us who are feeling a bit blue…here is a little mixtape of my favorite bad-day-busting tunes.
