hello!
in one dramatic gesture, our weather has now decided to with hold summer for a day and offer us gray skies and light showers. and while i would love nothing more than a crazy warm summer day, this chilly weather gives me the only excuse i need to indulge in my favorite rainy day comfort food.
the grilled cheese.

and while i am happiest with the classic paired with heartwarming tomato soup, san francisco’s new great american grilled cheese kitchen, owned by a grilled cheese invitational champion, offers curious and fantastical plays on this favorite. the “mushroom gruyere” {fontina, gruyรจre, roasted wild mushrooms + gold potatoes, melted leeks, thyme butter} and “piglet” {tillamook aged white cheddar, artisan cured ham, apple mustard, rosemary butter} sound divine and the piece de resistance? the kitchen whips up home made savory bread pudding.
is it lunch time yet?

It’s funny because I don’t really like cheese; but I literally live on grilled cheese sandwiches. Ironic, I know! The Great American Grilled Cheese Kitchen sounds like a slice of heaven!! ๐
