toast of the town

“life is like a sandwich – the more you add to it, the better it becomes.”
hey everybody!

i have a serious case of food brain this week. it could be because i can’t resist the wonderland of gourmet delights at every nyc street corner {truffle mac + cheese? yes, please}. or it’s because i hail from foodie heaven, aka san francisco, where the most phenomenal meals can be found on a leisurely stroll through our sweet city. and cost $7.
and while the glittering concrete jungle of new york has a bounty of food goodness, i have yet to find an equal to the place that creates one of my favorite meals in the history of favorite meals.
the grilled cheese sammy. 🙂
if you happen to be in our charming city by the bay, you’ll find a little {ok, ginormous} red and checkered truck – toasty melts – that sells, hands down, the most ridonkulous, oh-my-stars-that-was-so-amazing-i-need-to-have-another-one grilled cheese you’ve ever had. in your life.
this guy down there is their papa-rizo. it’s crazy and your tummy will love you forever for it. and they serve seasonal fruit with every order. {last time i had watermelon!}
and the toasty melts crew doesn’t stop there. they have a rotating menu of other heavenly concotions {manchego cheese + honey! mozzarella + basil aoili + prociutto!} that give you the closed-eyes-mmmmmm-so-good effect every time.
so if you’re a lover of the grilled cheese, do yourself a kindness and visit our friends at toasty melts. gray skies, zany work or the case of the mondays – it’ll be a bright spot of your work day.
now, raise your hand if you love grilled cheese! and because i heart food across the u.s.a, will you share with us your favorite local gem? i can’t wait to hear all about them!

friends, your sweet thoughts and inspiring comments are the bright spot of my day. please make the jump, hang out and share what’s on your mind. 🙂

    Holy…moly! That looks absolutely delicious! I wish that food trucks were as popular here in Tampa as they are in big cities: they seem so fun!

    Sweet mother of grilled cheese, YES. Our team goes totally crazy for grilled cheese (we do like the Grilled Cheese Kitchen just blocks from the office), but I think we could make a pilgrimage!

    Oh, how I do miss all the food trucks of San Francisco!

    Although out here in Raleigh they have grilled pimento cheese sandwiches, which are ooey-gooey delish! Definitely a southern twist on a classic sandwich.
