Winter: Patagonia Style

This morning, our little tribe ventured north to Portland, aka Portlandia, aka Niketown, the evergreen, always hip gem of the Pacific Northwest. It’s me and Lil’ T’s first time in PDX (the hubs came up here to visit his bro at Reed), lots of dear friends  now call this city home, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for this winter weekend adventure.

Chilly temps (low 30’s to mid 40’s) call for lots of layers, toasty sweaters, and proper coats. Urban hikes around town with a fierce 2 year old requires a trusty day pack for grumbling tummies and messy mishaps.

For this, we turn to our ultimate outdoor brand, Patagonia.

We L-O-V-E Patagonia. Backpacks, Down Jackets, Thermals, Fleece, Gloves, Tees, Beanies, Caps – it’s our go to for the threads that need to keep us warm. But it doesn’t stop at their clothes – we’re in awe of how they live to make our world beautiful and just – create a national park, provide fair trade certified wages, and design with organic cotton, traceable down, and responsibly sourced merino wool. And unlike many retailers who thrive on convincing shoppers to replace their fundamental clothes, Patagonia shakes their head at this notion with their Worn Wear program that educates and empowers Repair & Care of their Patagonia pieces.

Pulling off Patagonia style is not cheap – but we do it by strategically stocking up during their major sales in the winter and summer. And setting ShopStyle Sale Alerts always helps!

Theo’s trusty winter coat has been his Water Resistant Down Jacket since he was an infant (it was on super sale and I bought it in 2 sizes so he could wear it until he was 3). Their adorable Printed Anoraks are perfect rainy day shells for the littles. The husband’s tried and true cold weather vest is Patagonia’s Lightweight Down Zip Vest. And whenever the morning temp dips below 65, my Hooded Full Zip Jacket.

I’m from Seattle, so the style is basically the exact same thing up here! I love Patagonia’s clothes, they are definitely pricey, but they are also functional, which I think is worth paying for!
